Genesis Awarded New Work Order for Minnesota IT Services Supporting Minneapolis Public Schools

Genesis Consulting Partners, LLC has been awarded a work order under its IT-related Professional Services Contract with the Department of Administration and Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) supporting Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS).

This award accompanies several other similar K-12 contracts Genesis has been awarded. Genesis has had the privilege of supporting Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), Broward County Public Schools (BCPS), Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), Fulton County Schools (FCS) as well as Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS).

Minneapolis Public Schools is the third largest

K-12 District in Minnesota. Minneapolis, located in Hennepin County, is the largest city in the state of Minnesota, and is the 48th largest in the United States. The District covers 70 school programs at 65 sites, with approximately 34,000 students and 3,200 teaching staff.

MPS has brought Genesis in to oversee its initiative to implement a Student Information System (SIS) that will address its current and future SIS needs and will be compatible with the MPS data infrastructure to support Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) reporting requirements.

Adopting a Student Information System compatible with the MPS data infrastructure will enable more effective data management and interoperability between systems of record: special education system, assessment systems and vendors, teacher licensure and class roster systems, and annual feedback reports from higher education.

A critical component of adopting a new SIS is preparing the organization for the ensuing project, from a project management and organizational impact perspective. Genesis will play a crucial role in working with the SIS Vendor and the MPS stakeholders for instituting a process to communicate, assess, monitor, and control all changes to system resources and processes involved in the project.

COO Nick Coticchia and CEO Jason Fair

“Project implementations—especially large-scale, multi-year transformations like implementing a new SIS—are huge resource investments for IT and the District. Putting the voice of employees - internal and external project teams, project stakeholders, UAT testers, and employee end-users - at the center of an implementation, is more important than ever before,” says Nick Coticchia, Genesis COO.

Mr. Coticchia expounds on the matter stating that “gathering continuous, actionable employee insights at key phases and milestones ensures teams have a shared understanding of project scope, trust working together and remain resilient through setbacks. Having confidence in the project’s overall success ultimately keeps the implementation on track, minimizes team burnout, meets the intended purpose and expected adoption, and maximize business impact on employee enablement, and productivity.”

Genesis is not new to MPS. Genesis was previously contracted by MPS to implement a suite of products with the SAP innovation solutions as part of the final phase of its planned business transformation. The solutions implemented include SAP SuccessFactors, SAP New G/L and SAP SRM Procurement for Public Sector.
